Why We KnowCamberley Gardens

Camberley is one of our regular Surrey areas, and the drive from Bracknell is short enough that site visits and follow-up calls are straightforward. We cover GU15, GU16 and GU17: the town centre and Old Dean, Yorktown, Heatherside, Frimley, Frimley Green, Mytchett and Blackwater, for homeowners, landlords, commercial premises and paddock owners on the heath edges.

What sets Camberley apart from our Berkshire work is the ground and the trees. This is Bagshot Sands country: light, free-draining, sandy soil with heathland underneath. It digs easily, which sounds like good news, but sandy ground grips a post far less well than firmer soil, so post depth, hole diameter and the concrete mix matter more here, not less. A fence set to a standard depth in Camberley sand will start rocking in the wind years before the timber fails.

Then there are the pines. Mature Scots pine and other conifers line a huge number of Camberley and Frimley gardens, dropping needles and resin, shading fence runs so they stay permanently damp, and pushing roots along boundary lines. Add the branch and cone debris that comes down in a gale and you have a set of conditions that shortens the life of a badly built fence dramatically.

We quote every Camberley job from a free site visit, send a written price normally within 48 hours, and confirm the start date with you. Repairs start from £150 + VAT with a 1 year guarantee: new fencing and decking carry up to 5 years depending on the style installed. We hold £5,000,000 public liability insurance and employers' liability cover, and we are Checkatrade members.

Camberley is a short run south from our Bracknell base at 17 Jay Corner, RG12 8HR. See our family-run fencing company in Bracknell, browse every fencing service we install or get a free fencing quote in Camberley.

How fast we get to Camberley

Site visits arranged within days
Camberley is close to our Bracknell base, so a free measured visit can normally be set up within a few days of calling 07939 405646, including times that work around commuting.
Written quote within 48 hours
Your quote sets out materials, heights, post counts, expected duration and what gets removed, normally within 48 hours of the visit.
Priority for wind and tree damage
After a gale, Camberley calls tend to be branch strikes and dropped panels. Repairs are quicker to schedule than full installs, so those move up the list.

Property types we work on

  • Interwar and 1950s housing near the town

Yorktown, Crawley Hill and the older Camberley roads: deep plots, long boundaries, brick and timber meeting each other, and often a Victorian or interwar wall that a modern fence has to be tied into sensibly.

  • Heatherside and post-war estates

Regular plots on sandy ground with 1970s and 1980s fencing that has usually been repaired at least once. Rocking posts here are more often a bedding problem than a rot problem.

  • Frimley and Frimley Green village property

Mixed ages, mature planting and gardens backing on to green space, canal and woodland: the places where privacy screening, trellis and taller closeboard get asked for most.

  • Larger plots and paddocks on the heath edge

Deepcut, Mytchett and the Blackwater fringe, where long post-and-rail, stock fencing and field gate work is as common as domestic garden fencing.

What Camberley asks us for most

  • Re-setting posts that rock in loose sandy ground
  • Repairs after pine branches and cones bring panels down
  • Replacing timber that stays damp in permanent conifer shade
  • Composite fencing where needle and resin fall makes timber upkeep tiresome
  • Long post-and-rail runs on paddocks and larger plots
  • Taller screening where gardens back on to woodland and footpaths

Why us here

Why Camberley HomeownersUse A Local Family Firm

We have been fencing across Berkshire and Surrey for over 20 years, and Camberley's ground conditions are exactly the sort of local detail that separates a fence that lasts from one that gets rebuilt. Robert and Sean Stephens do the quoting and the work, so what is decided in your garden is what actually gets built.

Terms are the same as everywhere we work: free site visit, written quote normally within 48 hours, payment on the day of completion by card, bank transfer or cash. Repairs carry a 1 year workmanship guarantee, new installations up to 5 years depending on style, and we hold £5,000,000 public liability insurance plus employers' liability cover.

Local conditions

Why Fences FailIn Camberley

Ground, weather, trees and the age of the boundary decide how long a fence lasts far more than the panel you pick off a shelf. These are the conditions we plan for in Camberley.

Sandy soil that does not hold a post

Bagshot Sands drain fast and dig easily, but loose sand offers far less lateral grip than clay or loam. A post set shallow in Camberley sand can be sound timber and still rock in a strong wind, because it is the bedding that has failed, not the post. That means bigger, deeper holes and a properly mixed concrete collar shaped to shed water away from the timber.

It also changes how we diagnose a leaning fence. If the timber below ground is still solid, re-setting posts can be the economical fix, worth knowing before anyone quotes you for a full replacement.

Pines, resin and permanent shade

Mature conifers are part of Camberley's character and hard on fencing. Needle litter builds up against the base of a run, holding moisture against timber all year, and dense shade means a fence never fully dries out. Resin and cone fall add to it. Gravel boards, clearance at the base and, for some owners, composite instead of timber are the practical responses.

Storm damage from above, not just from the side

In most areas we repair wind-blown fences. In Camberley and Frimley a fair share of damage comes from what falls out of the trees: a limb through two bays does structural damage that a like-for-like panel swap will not properly address. We check the posts and rails either side of the impact before quoting, so you are not paying twice when the next gale arrives.

Mixed boundary age and old walls

Older Camberley and Yorktown plots often have Victorian or interwar brickwork running into modern timber, and returns that have been altered by different owners over decades. Fixing new fencing hard to old brick without allowing for movement is a common cause of cracked mortar and split rails. We keep the two systems independent and tell you how the junction will be handled before work starts.

Our process

Five Steps From EnquiryTo Guaranteed Finish

  1. 01

    Free site visit

Robert comes out at a time that suits you, walks the boundary, checks access for materials and spoil, and looks at ground conditions, clay, made-up ground, tree roots, services and levels all change what the job needs. Nothing is priced over the phone from guesswork.

  2. 02

    Written quote within 48 hours

You get a tailored written price, normally inside 48 hours of the visit and often sooner. It states the materials, the heights, the number of posts and boards, the expected duration and what is taken away. Payment is due on the day of completion.

  3. 03

    Groundwork and preparation

Old materials are stripped out and removed, post positions are set off a string line, and holes are dug to depth rather than to whatever the ground allows. Getting this stage right is the difference between a fence that stays plumb and one that leans in two winters.

  4. 04

    Installation

Posts are set and allowed to hold, gravel boards keep timber off the wet ground, and each bay is levelled and fixed as we go rather than corrected at the end. A standard domestic job is completed in one to two days.

  5. 05

    Check, tidy and guarantee

We walk the finished line with you, check every fixing, gate swing and level, sweep the site and take the waste with us. Payment is due on the day of completion by card, bank transfer or cash; repairs carry a 1 year guarantee, new installations up to 5 years.

Camberley questions

Fencing In Camberley,Questions Answered

Anything not covered here? Call 07939 405646 and speak to Robert directly, no call centre, no sales script.

Do you cover Camberley?
Yes. Camberley is one of our regular Surrey areas, covering GU15, GU16 and GU17; the town, Old Dean, Heatherside, Yorktown, Frimley, Frimley Green, Mytchett, Deepcut and Blackwater.
How quickly can you get to Camberley?
We are based in Bracknell, a short drive north, so a free site visit can usually be arranged within a few days of your call on 07939 405646. The written quote normally follows within 48 hours of that visit.
What does fencing cost in Camberley?
We quote each job individually after a free site visit, because sandy ground, tree roots, slope and access all change the work involved. Fence repairs start from £150 + VAT: other work is priced in writing, normally within 48 hours.
Do you do emergency fence repairs in Camberley?
We are not a 24-hour service, but urgent repairs; a branch through a fence, an insecure boundary, a gate that will not shut, are prioritised over new installations. Call 07939 405646 and we will give you a realistic date.
My posts wobble but the timber looks fine. What is wrong?
That is a classic Camberley symptom. In loose sandy soil the concrete collar can fail or was never big enough, so the post moves even though it is sound. Re-setting posts properly is often cheaper than replacing the fence, and we will tell you which applies on the visit.
Will conifers and pine needles ruin a new fence?
They shorten the life of one built without thought. Needle litter and shade hold damp against the timber. Gravel boards, keeping the base clear and, if you would rather not maintain timber at all, composite fencing all deal with it. New installations carry up to 5 years' guarantee depending on style.
Can you do post-and-rail or field gates on larger Camberley plots?
Yes. Post-and-rail runs, paddock boundaries and wooden or metal field and driveway gates are all part of what we do for agricultural and larger domestic clients. We do not fit automated or electric gates.
Do you work with letting agents in Camberley?
Yes. Written quotes, £5,000,000 public liability insurance, employers' liability cover, payment on completion and access arranged with tenants; the usual requirements for managed property.
Do you clear the old fence and debris away?
Yes, removal and disposal are part of the job, and the site is swept before we leave. Where conifer debris and overgrowth need stripping first, garden clearance can be included in the same quote.
How long does a Camberley job take?
A standard domestic fence is usually one to two days. Long paddock runs, gates, decking and clearance work take longer; the expected duration is written on your quote before you commit.
