Growth destroys the boundary
Ivy, brambles and self-seeded saplings hold water against fence panels, push posts out of line and lift gravel boards. The clearance job quietly becomes a fencing job.

Service overview
Garden clearance is the removal of everything that stops a garden being used or worked on: overgrowth and brambles, self-seeded scrub, old rotten fencing and posts, broken decking, redundant concrete and slabs, and general garden waste. It ends with the waste gone and the ground readable, not with bags left by the side gate.
It is usually the first stage of something else. Before a fence line can be set out you need to see the boundary; before decking can be framed you need to see the levels. Clearing first means the fencing quote is accurate rather than hedged with assumptions.
Clearance is mostly about disposal, access and knowing what to leave. Volume adds up faster than people expect, waste has to be taken away and disposed of properly, and heavy, sharp, rotten material has to come out through a side gate or a house without damaging either. There is also judgement in what stays, established planting, a boundary marker, a tree that is not yours to touch.
We work on properties across Berkshire and Surrey every week, carry £5,000,000 public liability insurance and employers' liability cover, and take the waste with us.
What it costs to wait
Clearance is one of the few jobs where cost genuinely tracks how long it has been left. Growth compounds and damage follows it.
Ivy, brambles and self-seeded saplings hold water against fence panels, push posts out of line and lift gravel boards. The clearance job quietly becomes a fencing job.
Under overgrowth there is usually broken glass, old wire, rotten timber with nails, and sometimes a collapsed structure. Nobody finds that safely by hand on a Sunday.
Vegetation against sheds, decking and walls keeps them permanently damp. Timber that would have lasted years fails early.
No fencing contractor can set out a boundary they cannot see, and no accurate quote can be given for a site nobody can walk. The delay costs you the season.
Our process
We walk the garden, judge the volume realistically, check access for getting waste out, side gate, through the house, or over a boundary, and agree with you what stays and what goes before anything is cut.
You get the clearance priced in writing, normally within 48 hours, including removal and disposal of the waste. If fencing, gates or decking follow on, those are priced alongside so the whole plan has one figure.
Overgrowth, brambles and scrub are cut back and removed, old fencing, posts and rotten timber taken out, and redundant materials pulled out from behind and under structures rather than worked around.
Waste is loaded and taken away for disposal, not bagged and left. Access routes through the property are protected as we go, which is exactly what our Checkatrade reviews mention about working through the house.
The site is raked over and swept so you can see the ground, the levels and the boundary. Payment is due on completion by card, bank transfer or cash. If fencing follows, we can set out from the cleared line straight away.
What you get
Removal and disposal are part of the job. No skip to hire, no bags waiting for a trip to the tip.
Once the ground is visible, fencing, decking and planting can be set out and priced accurately instead of estimated.
Glass, old wire, nails and rotten structures removed by an insured team with £5m public liability and employers' liability cover.
Routes through the house and drive are covered and respected; a point local customers repeatedly note in reviews.
Clearance, fence removal and the new boundary handled by the same family firm, so nothing waits on another trade.
Free site visit, written quote within 48 hours, and payment due only once the garden is clear.
Detail that matters
Clearance work varies enormously by site. These are the elements that come up most often.
Two things decide what a clearance costs: how much material there is, and how hard it is to get it out. A garden reached only through a house or a narrow side gate takes considerably longer to clear than one with rear or driveway access, and that is why we judge it on site rather than over the phone.
All waste is removed and disposed of by us. Where we are working through the property, access routes are protected, clear communication and respect for the house is something our local reviews mention specifically, including working through a house without leaving a mess behind.
Clearing first makes every later stage cheaper and more accurate. With the boundary visible we can see which posts are failing, whether the fence line has moved, and whether a full replacement or a targeted repair from £150 + VAT is the right call. With levels visible, a deck frame can be specified properly.
Because we do the clearance, the fencing, the gates and the decking, there is no gap between trades and no argument about who leaves what behind.
Not everything in an overgrown garden should be cut. Neighbours' planting, boundary trees, hedges that mark the line and anything that may be protected are all agreed with you before work starts, and we will flag anything we think you should check before we touch it.
We clear gardens across Bracknell, Wokingham, Camberley, Ascot, Reading, Bagshot, Addlestone, Chertsey and Windlesham for homeowners, landlords, agricultural and commercial clients.
